About Common Ground Theatre

Common Ground Theatre is a UK-based travelling theatre company dedicated to creating bold, inclusive, and accessible Shakespeare productions that can be performed anywhere — from traditional theatres to tents and open-air venues.

Founded by Sadie Jemmett, former Artistic Director of Footsbarn Theatre, and actor, Lydia Keating, Common Ground emerged out of the acclaimed 2024 Footsbarn production of Twelfth Night. Rooted in the rich tradition of travelling theatre, we bring Shakespeare to life through dynamic storytelling, processional and site-specific staging, and the vibrant energy of live music and song.

Our productions are highly adaptive, weaving together a colourful tapestry of theatrical styles that speak to a wide audience. We believe Shakespeare should be for everyone — joyful, generous, and easy to understand.

Common Ground Theatre also champions educational outreach. We are committed to offering vocational training workshops for learning-disabled people seeking a path into professional theatre, including opportunities for internships within the company itself.
